Lesley Clayton

Hi, my name is Lesley and I live in Zeeland, The Netherlands. I am 40 years old and was born and raised in Birmingham, England. I enjoyed drawing from an early age. I remember sitting on the floor in the lounge with my parents while they watched TV and I would just draw for hours on end. As I grew I discovered that people liked receiving gifts of sketches of their homes or pets or special places from their past (sometimes even pop stars and actors). I left school with an A in art and went on to do a Diploma in Art and design. I hadn't quite completed the course when I landed a training job in Graphic Design. Luckily I still passed my course with the exception of contextual studies (media studies). I worked as a Graphic Designer for 5 years. In 1994 I became pregnant with my daughter and was made redundant from my Graphics job. After my daughter was born I had to get another job and as I had been out of the graphics industry for 6 months was unable to pick it up again unless I updated my computer skills. Programs changed so fast that my old skills were just out of date. At that point I more or less stopped drawing or doing art of any description. 3 Years ago my partner and I moved to The Netherlands (he was born here). I had had a pretty turbulent time in England and needed to 'start over'. Last year someone gave me the idea of starting drawing again to help me relax and recover from the stress from my old life. I began by drawing my beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog Jake. You can see the sketch in Creations, Animals. I surprised myself that I could still draw after all these years. I plan to continue drawing now and am available for commission work. I hope you enjoy my site.
